India has some of the most bio diverse regions of the world and is home to 7.6% of all mammalian, 12.6% avian, 6.2% reptilian and 6% flowering plants species of the world. Rajasthan being the biggest state as per geographic area itself has wide variety of fauna and flora in spite of prevailing remain arid and harsh climatic conditions. The state proudly claims to have five national parks and 25 wildlife sanctuaries.

According to article 51-A in the constitution of India, it states it shall be the duty of every citizen of India to protect and improve the natural environment including forests, lakes, rivers and wildlife and to have comparison. In reference to the above article and also Due to the growing need of scientific studies and also public awareness in wildlife and its conservation, the Department of Wildlife management in College of Horticulture and Forestry, Jhalawar under Agriculture University, Kota was created on April 27, 2017. This is a meticulous programme designed to impart quality education, scientific knowledge and experience to graduate and post-graduate students to become wildlife professionals.

This programme is structured in such a format to ensure the right amalgamation of basic knowledge and research aptitude. It will inculcate curiosity and responsibility towards the wildlife issues related conservation and management.

Objectives:

  • To promote quality education to the graduate and post graduate students.
  • Wildlife monitoring for the preparation of its inventory.
  • It will focus on conservation and management of wild animals with special emphasis on endangered species.
  • Mitigation measures for man and animal conflict.
  • Training programmes for mass scale awareness in local people.
  • Conservation and management of endangered species.
