Bee keeping is an ideal activity for development as a subsidiary occupation providing supplementary income to the farmers. It is a way to create off farm opportunities especially for youth, women and landless farmers. Bee keeping is a feasible in area where adequate bee flora remains available for minimum period of 6 months. The high quality pollination and increase in yield of agricultural and horticultural crops is added advantages of the bee keeping. The Jhalawar district has a lot of potential for production of good quality honey. The district has cover sizable area under mustard, coriander and mandarin from which honey bees collect abundant quantity of nectar and these crops are important for colony build up and also to avail surplus honey.
